The key to a stress free move. |

One of the main things to bear to in mind when packing your house is filling your removal boxes correctly. Spread heavy items evenly amongst boxes, putting these items at the bottom of the boxes and leaving lighter items to go on the top. Books are deceptively heavy so use small boxes to limit the amount of books packed in one box.
The last thing anyone wants when unpacking is to find broken belongings, so it’s better to be safer than sorry, for delicate items such as china and ornaments, bubble wrap is essential. A cost effective way of protecting your more fragile items through transit would be to use blankets as extra protection.
It is essential that you make sure your boxes are taped correctly. Do not just tape the opening of the box but secure it fully on the bottom to ensure that no box opens whilst being carried.
Clearly mark which way up the boxes should be transported. To avoid complication when unloading the removal van, mark on the side of each box the room it is to be unpacked in. This will save valuable time and energy when arranging your new household. This is an exciting time so anything to make the transition that little bit more enjoyable will be greatly appreciated.
When travelling to your new home it may be beneficial to keep important documents such as driving licence, passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate etc. on your person for safe keeping.
Your actual moving day may be a long and tiring day. If you have young children, having a bag of toys in your car will be invaluable, the children will be able to find a room to play in and stay out of the way of the hustle and bustle of a busy moving day.
Make sure you have ample refreshments at hand to last the day for everyone helping with the move, (they work better fed and watered!).
Happy house moving!
